Dorothy T. Baker
August 11, 1924 - April 11, 2022
Dorothy Lorraine Taylor Baker was born on August 11, 1924, to Eleanor and Donald Taylor. She spent most of her younger years in northern California. She graduated from Galileo High School in San Francisco. From there she moved south where she lived and worked in the Los Angeles area. She modeled for the Rita LaRoy Agency for a while. She met and married Donald W Baker. While in that area she worked in the banking industry. After a while they moved further south to Cathedral City, California. There, Dorothy went back to school at College of the Desert and studied finances and investing. In 1971 they moved to Prescott, Arizona. This is where she started a long career volunteering along with continuing to invest and manage their portfolio. She continued her thirst for knowledge at Yavapai College in Prescott. After having more credits than necessary the college encouraged her to pick a degree and graduate. She did and graduated with honors! She continued taking a variety of classes the rest of her life. Travel was of great enjoyment to Dorothy. She used Road Scholar to book her destinations and completed 32 trips with them. This company always has education about what and where you are going and what you will be seeing. Before leaving California, she developed a love for hiking that lasted her whole life! She hiked in Switzerland, France, and all over the western US. Early on she developed a curiosity for wildflowers. She became a self-educated amateur botanist which gave her many hours of enjoyment! She also loved planting a colorful and decorative yard. She loved to entertain. Whether it was friends getting together or an occasion or an event, she loved creating the party! Sometimes her parties included games, with prizes of course, or just hors-d'oeuvres and a wonderful meal. Always, there was laughter and love shared between friends and family! Dorothy T. Baker spent the last chapter of her amazing life in Fort Collins, Colorado close to her family. She continued education, travel, entertaining, and just being involved. She transitioned April 11, 2022. She wore many hats! Daughter, Friend, Sister, Wife, Mother, Grandmother, and volunteer. She is survived by her daughter Barbara Green; grandchildren Trevor Williams and his wife Mona, Alexandra Green and her boyfriend Alexander Ford; great grandsons Isaac Williams and Eirik Williams; half-sister Donna Uhl; and niece Dina and her children Taylor and Madison. She will be dearly missed! She is part of who we are today! We all have a place in our heart that is just her! For those of you reading this who knew her and held her dear also, in lieu flowers please donate to the charity of your choice in her name. She loved nature, trees, flowers, animals just as a suggestion. A service is currently being planned and more information will be available as soon as times are set.
