Alice June Bergstrom

March 16, 1922 - March 5, 2022

Alice “June” Bergstrom, longtime Fort Collins resident, died March 5th, 2022 at the age of 99, just 11 days short of her 100th birthday. June was born March 16th, 1922 in Riverside, California to Millie (Tucker) and Albert Tingleaf. On August 3rd, 1940 she married Duane Bergstrom in Reno, Nevada. June and Duane lived in Oregon and Colorado. They traveled extensively with friends and family: skiing, camping, canoeing; even chauffeuring a group of 65 Girl Scouts and a poodle on numerous lakes in Canada. June was a swimming enthusiast winning numerous medals in the Senior Olympics. After Duane’s death August 2nd, 1985 June married Charles Vermey on June 17th, 1989. June and Charles continued enjoying travel, the Senior Olympics, and visiting with Charles’ children and grandchildren. Charles Vermey, died October 19th, 2009. June’s life was filled with family, beloved pets, creative projects and visits to Mexico, Europe, Africa and Asia. She loved adventure and was famous for parasailing and zip lining into her 80’s. When she wasn’t off being a dare devil she nurtured her family with wonderful meals, holiday parties, refinishing and upholstering furniture, knitting sweaters, sewing, making hats adorned with pheasant feathers and attending garage sales. June’s ready smile and loving care will be missed by her many friends and family. June is survived by her daughters Noelle (Melvyn) Branch, Debbie (Don) Bartling, Becky (Jon) Avery and and son Dale (Deb) Bergstrom and grand children: Miles and Nicole Branch, Mikael Vuletich and Janel Fluharty, Megan Avery, Lucas, Nick and Angela Bergstrom, and great grandchildren Azana Best, Gabe and Aly Bergstrom and Aleah Fluharty.
