Marjorie J. Stapleton

Marjorie J. Stapleton, 93, passed away on March 24, 2015 at her residence in Fort Collins. A Memorial Service will be held April 20, 2015 at 1: 00 p.m. and followed by a brief reception, at Bohlender Funeral Chapel in Fort Collins. Marjorie was born on March 3, 1922 in Red Oak, IA, the daughter of Nora Spicer and Ernest Chastain. She played clarinet in an award-winning high school marching band and got to march in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. She graduated from Red Oak High School in 1939. Her family moved to Fayetteville, AR where she attended two years at Arkansas University majoring in Art. She married Randall Arthur Jones in 1941 in Paxton, NE. The couple lived, worked, and raised their family for many years in Sioux City, IA before moving to Fort Collins in 1963. Randall passed away in 1981. Marjorie married Robert M. Stapleton of Boston, MA in 1996 in Fort Collins, CO. Robert passed away in 1999. Marjorie was the Head Finance Director at the Larimer County Mental Health Clinic in Fort Collins for 20 years until her retirement in 1985. She loved her family and friends and she enjoyed going to church, reading, dancing, cooking, sewing, traveling, spending time at the beach, and water color and acrylic painting. She was also a member of the Women of the Moose in Sioux City, IA, and the Epsilon Sigma Alpha, International Zeta Chi Sorority in Fort Collins, CO. Those left to honor Marjorie’s loving memory are her daughter, Judith A. (Jones) Holley of Fort Collins, CO; her son, Robert C. Jones of Littleton, CO and his wife, Joanne; three grandchildren, Karen Conrad and her husband, Eric of Peyton, CO, Christopher Jones of Denver, CO, and Travis Jones of Denver, CO; four great-grandchildren, Porsha and Logan Conrad of Peyton, CO, and Jacob and Erica Babcock of Woodland Park, CO. She is also survived by her younger brother, Ernest Chastain of Oklahoma City, OK and her older sister, Bernice Force of Ferndale, MI, and a host of nieces, nephews, in-laws and long-time friends. Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, Randall Jones; her second husband, Robert Stapleton; her oldest son, Roger R. Jones, and her granddaughter, Sandra Babcock.
