Diane Doyne Dick

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Diane Doyne “Peekie” Dick on October 4, 2023. At the age of 67, her courageous 20-month battle with pancreatic cancer came to an end, surrounded by love. Diane will be deeply loved and forever remembered for all that she was to everyone fortunate enough to know her. Diane was born on March 5, 1956, in Denver, Colorado, to Jack and Mildred Hickey. While Jack was her biological father, she was also lovingly raised by her stepfather, John Greene, who came into her life when she was young and became a cherished father figure to her. A true Colorado native, Diane spent her entire life in the state she loved, including the last 18 years in Red Feather Lakes and her final months in Fort Collins. She cherished the beauty of Colorado and the peaceful life she built there with the people she loved most. On October 1, 1983, she married her first love, Ron Dick. Together they shared 40 incredible years of marriage, building a life rooted in love, laughter, and devotion while raising their two children, Ashley and Jeff. Their marriage was a true partnership filled with deep love, loyalty, and countless memories that spanned four decades. Diane had a rare and beautiful gift for loving without condition. When she loved you, she loved you fiercely and completely. She was kind, warm, and endlessly compassionate, always seeing the best in everyone she met. She was the kind of person people naturally gravitated toward—the one who made others feel comfortable, welcomed, and valued. She never hesitated to show up for the people she loved, offering encouragement, laughter, and unwavering support whenever it was needed. She was also fun and funny, with a laugh that filled the room and a presence you could never miss—often the loudest person in the room, and proudly so. Her joy, humor, and energy made every gathering brighter. Whether it was a holiday, family dinner, or just an ordinary day, Diane had a way of making moments feel special. She was known for a whistle so loud it could catch the attention of someone across a crowd—or, as her family often joked, across the entire state. It was just one of the many unforgettable things about her that people will always remember. Diane was incredibly talented and creative. She was an amazing cook who brought people together through her food, always making sure everyone at her table felt full, welcomed, and cared for. She also had a gift for crafting, creating beautiful and thoughtful things that she loved sharing with family and friends. Her creativity and generosity showed in everything she made. Her love extended to every member of her family—including the four-legged ones. Diane adored her dogs and cared for them deeply. They were constant companions and brought her endless joy throughout her life. Her greatest passion and proudest joy were her grandchildren, who were truly her entire world. She poured her heart into them and treasured every moment spent together—celebrating their accomplishments, cheering them on, and loving them in the way only a grandmother can. Being their grandma was the role she cherished most in life. Leaving them was her greatest sorrow, but her love for them will forever surround and guide them. Diane is survived by her loving husband, Ron; her daughter, Ashley Sciaroni (Dick); her son-in-law, Patrick Sciaroni; her son, Jeff Dick; her beloved grandchildren, Devin, Matt, Abby, and Sam Sciaroni; her sisters, Alexis, Donna, Lisa, Marnie, and Debbie; and her brother, Michael. Diane’s legacy lives on through the warmth, laughter, compassion, and unconditional love she gave so freely. She taught all of us how to love deeply, live boldly, and find joy even in the hardest moments. The love she gave to her family and friends will continue to live on in all of us who were lucky enough to know her. May her gentle soul rest in peace. We will carry her love with us every day and honor her by loving as fiercely as she did.
