Wilma Sidman

Wilma R. Sidman, 80, of Fort Collins, died Nov. 17, 2007, with her family by her side at her daughter's home in Kersey. Mrs. Sidman was born Oct. 7, 1927, in Page, Neb., to Lawrence Finley and Berniece Finley. She moved to Fort Collins in 1933 and attended Fort Collins schools and graduated from Fort Collins High School in 1945. She married Waynard Huff after high school. They had two sons, Frank and Gary; they later divorced and she married William S. Sidman in August 1962. They had a daughter, Shari, and a son, Craig. She was a secretary for Dr. Rumley. She also was a waitress at the Hanson's Cafe and worked at Garwood's and was a stay-at-home mother for many years. She had many good friends and was a wonderful mother, "The Best," and was a beautiful lady. Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her life. She enjoyed camping, fishing, country music and going to the Safari with her husband to dance. She had many hobbies, including ceramics for which she was awarded several ribbons, embroidery, crocheting, painting, cards and crossword puzzles. She also made the best sugar cookies. One of her many accomplishments was appearing before Congress to advocate a new bill that would change the eligibility for Medicaid spousal impoverishment. This bill was eventually passed. She was an active member at the Christ Center Community Church and volunteered for many years at the Christ Center Community Outreach Program and received a plaque in her honor. She made crafts and donated them to the church's Christmas Bazaar for many years. Survivors include her two sons, Gary Huff of Fort Collins and Craig Sidman and Susan of Loveland; a daughter, Shari Lynch of Kersey; two stepchildren, Delilah Rasberry of Texas and Waynard Huff of Phoenix, Ariz.; seven grandchildren, Scott Huff and his wife, Lisa, of Chesepeake, Va., Dawn Huff of Howard, Ohio, Harold Gladson of Nebraska, Jennifer Hoover of Portland, Ore., Melissa Lemke and her husband, Vince, of Oceanside, Calif., Isabella Sidman of Loveland and Sadie Lynch of Kersey; four great-grandchildren, Jordan Buchanan, Andraya Cordea, Tony and Kayla Huff; and another great-grandchild on the way! Preceding Wilma in death are her parents, both husbands, a son, Frank Huff, a sister, Laurine Richmond, and brother, Joe Finley. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at Christ Center Community Church, 2700 S. Lemay Ave. Chaplain Allan Williams will officiate at the service.
