Willma Crim

Willma L. Crim, 90, passed away Monday, May 9, 2005, at the Blue Grouse Nursing Center in Fort Collins. She had been a resident there for several years. She was born Oct. 4, 1914, on a farm north of Lancaster, Mo., to Elbert H. and Della Murrell Bowling. She married Colin Crim in May 1941. She attended grade school at a little country school and graduated from high school at Lancaster, Mo. She received her high school education by riding a horse five miles to school every day. The year after she graduated at the age of 18, she started teaching school at a little school west of Glenwood, Mo., named Independence. Her salary was $25 a month and she paid $10 for room and board. Over the years she taught at several schools in Schuyler County, Mo., the last being at Downing, Mo. In the summers she attended college in Kirksville, Mo. In the middle '60s she moved with her husband who was also a teacher, to Fort Collins where they both taught at Livermore for a few years and during the summer months attended a college in Laramie, Wyo, with her husband, where they both graduated. Later she taught at Bennett school for several years. After retiring she was a substitute teacher until she was 70 at different schools in the Fort Collins area. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband and one sister, Dorothy Jones. Survivors are her son, Warren Crim, of Fort Collins; a daughter, Lou Ellen Crim, of Centerville, Iowa; a grandson, Brian Crim; a great-grandson, Brian Crim Jr.; and one sister, Audra Veatch, of Greeley. A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Resthaven Memory Gardens Cemetery. Pastor Paul Logue will officiate. Bohlender Funeral Chapel is handling arrangements.
