William Howard Young

William "Bill" Howard Young, 80, of Fort Collins, died June 15, 2009 at Mount Vernon, Illinois. Mr. Young was born November 14, 1928 in Bloomington, Illinois to William Frank and Beatrice Hayes Young. Bill married Alyce Reed. Mr. Young has lived over 50 years in Fort Collins. He was a Barber/operator and then became the owner of McCarty's Barber Shop. Bill served in the US Navy. He was a lifetime member of the Elks Lodge #804 as well as a member and former officer of Moose Lodge #275, Junior Chamber of Commerce Committee to establish youth baseball in Fort Collins, and member of the Barbers Union. Bill enjoyed duck hunting, fishing bowling and searching for Indian artifacts. Survivors include his brother, Robert Young; sisters, Maxine, Betty, Janet and Barbara, and numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. Preceding Bill in death are his parents; brother, Paul and his wife, Alyce. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Moose Lodge #275, 4820 S. College Ave., on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. Interment has already taken place at Shiloh Cemetery in Whittington, Illinois.
