William D. Weddel

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of William D. Weddel (age 97), a longtime resident of Ft. Collins, Colorado. He passed peacefully on January 6, 2026 at home, after a full and adventurous life. He was born on July 15, 1928 in Arcadia, Nebraska, the youngest of four sons born to Charles C. Weddel and Marie E. Weddel. He graduated from Arcadia High School, then received his bachelor's degree from Nebraska Wesleyan and then his master's degree from University of Michigan. He married Shirley J. Bennett of Loup City , Nebraska in 1954. They adopted two children, Paula and Tom, who is now married to Lisa with four children. In 1978, after his divorce, he married Evelyn (Evie) Davis Kuchel which added four more to the family, Lynn (now deceased), Jan, Stuart (Julie), and Matt ( Margaret). The family continued to grow with the addition of eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Bill moved to Ft Collins in 1957 where he lived until his death. He was with Colorado State University for 28 years. He enjoyed many hobbies, activities, and passions. He was an active member of the Foothills Unitarian Church in Ft. Collins. Celebration of Life Service details will be determined and announced at a later date.
