William "Bill" Edward Wangnild of Loveland, Colorado passed away on December 17, 2018 at McKee Medical Center.
Bill was born April 26, 1944 in Denver, Colorado to Charles Wangnild and Gertrude Gleason. Bill graduated from the University of Wyoming Preparatory High School and went to college at University of Wyoming for three years before leaving college to work on the family ranch in the Laramie River Valley near Glendevey, Colorado. He married Laurel Peterson on July 16, 1966. They were married for 47 years. They were a part of the family ranch until 1979 when they moved their family to Loveland.
After moving to Loveland Bill began working in real estate and water rights. Bill skied for the University of Wyoming ski team and continued skiing with his family. He also enjoyed snowmobile racing, hunting, fishing, participating in rodeos, golfing and socializing with friends, especially his coffee buddies and church friends. He played the banjo, guitar, and mandolin and loved history. Bill was an active member of his church and was a part of the security team. Over the years he had volunteered his time coaching his kids in sports, volunteered as an unpaid Deputy for the Larimer County Sheriff Department for a few years while he lived on the family ranch, and was active in local and state politics.
Bill is survived by his daughter Holly Suess (Rick), sons Dan Wangnild (Brenda), Ben Wangnild (Melissa), daughter-in-law Shey Musgrave, grandchildren Jenna Doughty (Brent), Paige Suess, CJ Wangnild, Kyle Wangnild, Melayni Wangnild, Evan Wangnild, Avery Wangnild, Olivia Wangnild, Carson Wangnild, and Jonathon Wangnild and great grandson Levi Strickland. Bill is also survived by his sister Alice Gaskill of New Mexico and many nieces and nephews.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents and son Jonathon Wangnild.
A Memorial Service will be held 10 a.m., Friday, December 28, 2018 at Faith Church, 2707 N Wilson Ave, Loveland, CO 80538.
