Dr. (Billy) William James Sutton was born on 1-16-1946. He went home to be with his Lord and Saviour on 7-31-26.
He was born to William and Doris Sutton in Goodland, KS. He moved to Fort Collins, CO around the age of 3 where he was raised on a farm and eventually met the love of his life, Judy Murphy Sutton. They were married for 62 years. They had five children: Danny Eugene Sutton, who went to heaven when he was seven years old, Tuesday Sutton (Schauer) of Zurich, Switzerland, Wendy Sutton (Goppert) of Loveland, CO, Misty Sutton (Forbes) of Loveland, CO and Park (Melissa) Sutton of Fort Collins, CO.
He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers and son.
He was saved at 317 Smith Street, and surrendered to preach at the age of 21. God allowed him to start a church in Gillette, Wyoming, and pastor in Johnson, KS and Colorado Springs, CO. He labored for 8 years in Austria, started Calvary Baptist Temple in Fort Collins, CO and finished his 54 yrs of ministry pastoring Bethel Baptist Church in La Plata, MD. His ministry was felt worldwide.
Pastor Sutton’s love for the Lord was evident by his love for people both near and around the world. He believed, lived, and preached that the heartbeat of the church should be missions. He loved to preach about his Jesus!
He was greatly loved by many including those in his church, his brothers and sister, his 5 children, 11 grandchildren, 6 great grand children, and wonderful wife. He will be greatly missed!
Memorial services will be held at Calvary Baptist Temple located at 2420 Laporte Avenue, Fort Collins, CO on Monday, August 10th at 2 pm with a visitation at 1pm
