William Bill Prangen, 87, of Fort Collins, died Monday, May 21, 2007, at the Hospice Care Center in Loveland. Bohlender Funeral Chapel is handling arrangements. Per Bill's wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no services. William Prangen was born Feb. 23, 1920, in Rochester, Minn., to Avery and Alice Prangen. He was a doctor of ophthalmology and served in the United States Army from October 1942 to May 1956, achieving the rank of captain. He served in both World War II and the Korean War. He married Elizabeth Lib Shinafelt on Dec. 24, 1969, in Minneapolis. Bill's passion was radios. He held an amateur radio license for more than 30 years. His call sign was WB9NNC until he met a group of local radio enthusiasts and changed his call sign to "Triple Zero." Bill is known throughout the United States to many other radio enthusiasts as he made his way across the airwaves. He was preceded in death by his beloved "Lib" and his parents. Bill was loved by all who knew him and will be missed by his many friends who considered him part of their family. He'll be forever known as "Wild Bill." Friends may send condolences to the family at
