William Whatley Moseley, 83, of Fort Collins died suddenly October 29, 2011, while visiting in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Bill was born in Columbus, Georgia on October 31, 1927 to William Bethel and Lillie Whatley Moseley. He served in the U.S. Navy toward the end of WWII. He received his BA degree from the University of Miami in Florida, his MA and PhD from the University of New Mexico. While at UNM he met Betty Ruth Cox and they were married August 6, 1950. Before moving to Fort Collins in 1967, he was professor of Foreign Languages at Louisiana College and at Louisiana State University New Orleans, serving as Department Chair and as Dean of the College of Liberal Arts. He taught and served several terms as Chairman of Foreign Languages and Literatures at Colorado State University until retirement in 1988. Bill and his family traveled extensively and lived in Mexico, Chile, Spain, and Portugal where he conducted research. He published numerous professional works. He enjoyed reading and discussing the world of ideas. After retirement he enjoyed volunteering at Poudre Valley Hospital. He was an active, long-time member of American Baptist Church and often served as mission's coordinator. He is survived by his wife, Betty; his daughter, Therese Thomas Myers of Sofia, Bulgaria; his son, William, Jr. Jami of Fort Collins; grandchildren, Andrew James and Nathan William Myers, and William Ryan and Mary Kathryn Moseley. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister. Visitation will be Thursday, November 3, 2011 from 4:00 to 6:00 P.M. at Bohlender Funeral Chapel. The funeral service will be at American Baptist Church 600 S. Shields at 11:00 A.M., Friday November 4. A Graveside Service will be held at 1:30 p.m. at Grandview Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to American Baptist Church for local and global missions in care of Bohlender Funeral Chapel, 121 W. Olive, Fort Collins, Colorado 80524.
