On February 15 Wayne Charles Wrobbel of Ft. Collins passed away in hospice care at the V.A. Hospital, Cheyenne WY. Wayne (69) was born in Rosiclare, IL on December 1, 1946 to Fred and Evelyn (Frye) Wrobbel of WI.

When the young family was transferred by the Alcoa Company to the Dominican Republic and later Jamaica, Wayne attended Spanish schools spending the early part of his childhood learning to speak the language. Returning state-side for high school at a military school in Miami, he graduated three years later as a lieutenant and served during Viet Nam as a medical equipment technician stationed at Ft. Bragg, NC. After his service Wayne moved to Fort Collins, beginning work as a local contractor on custom homes and later marrying. Due to his interest in engineering and architecture Wayne taught himself many disciplines including solar design and installation. He spent hours in his workshop making furniture for the passive solar home he designed and built. He subsequently became fascinated with the burgeoning computer world and turned his attention to learning and receiving an AA in computer networking where he immersed himself in that field for the remainder of his working life.

The retirement years found Wayne enjoying vegetable gardening and creative cooking. A big fan of old time radio programs, classic films and every type of music, he spent many hours entertaining friends with his new finds and foods. Traveling to Indonesia was the trip of a lifetime where he developed a love for the Balinese culture, documenting it through photos, folk art and shared stories.

Wayne involved himself in church life and gained great pleasure sharing his talents by creating audio visuals to accompany Sunday services, holidays and other special events. He participated in various church trips and was blessed by the relationships he had with the friends and fellowship in his church family.

Wayne is preceded in death by his parents Fred and Evelyn. He is survived by his brother, Charlie (wife Susan, daughter Mackenzie) of Ft. Collins and extended family in Wisconsin. All who knew Wayne knew him to be a kind person. He will be greatly missed by family and friends.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 3, 2016 at the Metropolitan Community Church, 4223 S. Mason, Ft. Collins, CO 80526. If planning a gift in memory of Wayne please consider a donation to the Metropolitan Community Church in Fort Collins.
