Warren Whitehead

Warren Whitehead of Fort Collins passed away April 20, 2007, at Columbine Care Center West. He had suffered with Parkinson 's disease for 10 years. Warren Carlisle Whitehead was born May 21, 1925, in Fort Collins to Luther B. and Mabel E. Whitehead. He lived in Fort Collins his entire life and graduated from Fort Collins High School in 1943. After graduation, during World War II, he was employed by United Airlines, Modification Center in Cheyenne, Wyo. Warren married his lifelong love Olive E. Morris on Feb. 22, 1947. They shared 60 beautiful years together. They enjoyed their six children, 13 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was employed with the United States Postal Service for more than 32 years in Fort Collins. Warren was a member of the First United Methodist Church, a lifetime member of the National Association of Letter Carriers and had been active in Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts. After retirement, he and Olive traveled extensively in their motor home including trips to California, Sturgis, S.D., and Nashville, Tenn. Warren loved, fishing, hunting, garage sales and tinkering with anything that moved especially cars and motorcycles. He also enjoyed his music and his beloved harmonicas. He especially loved to pass his knowledge on to his family. He will be remembered as a big man with an even bigger heart who loved his family and never met a stranger. Warren is survived by his wife, Olive of Fort Collins; children, Denny Whitehead and his wife Jan Thayer of Fort Collins, Robbi Cunningham and her husband Ken of Windsor, Brady Whitehead and his wife Carmen of Green River, Wyo., Tom Whitehead and his wife Nina of Fort Collins, Bruce Whitehead and his wife, Becca of Durango, and Dwight Whitehead of Glenwood Springs; 13 grandchildren and three great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his sister, Kathleen Ferguson. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Bohlender Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow at Grandview Cemetery. the Rev. Carol Quinn will officiate at the service. Memorial contributions may be made to Parkinson's Disease Research or First United Methodist Church, in care of Bohlender Funeral Chapel.
