Warren C. Brown, 84, son of Frank P. and Estella Swindle Brown, born Dec. 15, 1920, in Garden County, Neb., died Sept. 4, 2005, in Fort Collins. His younger years were spent on the farm. He attended Ogallala High School and participated in the Job Training Program working at Peterson's Ben Franklin Store. He remained there after graduation until enlistment in the Navy on Jan. 20, 1942. He served as a yeoman second class on the USS St. Louis until being discharged Nov. 20, 1945. He managed Imperial, Ogallala and Fort Collins Ben Franklin stores from 1945 to 1962. The next 20 years he was employed at Colorado State University in the physical plant and accounting departments until his retirement in 1982. On Sept. 20, 1947, he was married to Lavon Grant in Imperial, Neb. They retired in Yuma, Ariz., in 1984 and then returned to Fort Collins in 2002. He is survived by his wife and sons, Robert, of Denver, Vaughn, of Portland, Ore., and Jeffrey, of Boulder, and daughter-in-law, Deborah, and grandchildren, Ryan and Alexandra, of Portland, and five brothers and sisters. He was preceded in death by his parents and four sisters. Warren was a life member of the BPOE. He was an avid sportsman, especially fishing, hunting and golf. His friendliness and sense of humor endeared him to all who knew him. A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Bohlender Funeral Home.
