Virginia Ellen Moore, 95, died peacefully on Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2005, in Fort Collins. Virginia was born Aug. 27, 1910, in Fort Collins. Her parents, Frank and Jesse Ramer Moore, were members of two of Fort Collins' oldest pioneer families. Virginia was raised on Meldrum Street, sharing many happy adventures with her brother, John, their friends and their horse, Princess Pat. Virginia graduated from Fort Collins High School in 1928. She graduated from the University of Colorado in Boulder in 1932, where she was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority. After college, Virginia embarked on an extended journey throughout the Far East, especially enjoying her experiences in China, Japan and the Philippines. She later settled in Hawaii, and was employed as a social worker in Lihue, Kauai for several years. At the start of World War II, Virginia enlisted in the US Navy and achieved the rank of Lieutenant while stationed in San Diego. After the war, Virginia moved to San Francisco and began working in retail department stores. She was soon promoted to supervisory positions and began specializing in human resources. She retired in 1975 as Vice President and Personnel Director for the Bay Area Macy's stores. Virginia returned to Fort Collins in 1992 to live near her family. In Fort Collins, she was a member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church. Always bright and beautiful, Virginia enjoyed bridge, baseball, reading, travel, current events, conversation, laughter and spending time with her family and friends. Virginia is preceded in death by her brother, John Ramer Moore; her sister-in-law, Viola Kluver Moore; and special life-long friend, Vincent Reynolds. She is survived by her nephew, Tom Moore and wife, Nancy, of Fort Collins; a niece, Marylee Moore of the Philippines; and great-nephews and nieces, Gus, Sadie and Sally Moore and Jessica Kistler. At Virginia's request, no service will be held. Her family plans a private interment at Grandview Cemetery. If friends wish, memorial contributions can be made to SAINT Senior Alternatives in Transportation, 333 W. Drake Road, Fort Collins, CO 80526 or to the charity of your choice.
