Virginia DeWitt Rankin McCambridge passed away at the age of 94, on Sunday, May 7, 2017. Virginia, twice widowed, was a cherished friend to many from the years she and Bill McCambridge lived on Richards Lake Road and the 10 years she lived at the Worthington. Born on September 21, 1922, in Rochester, New York, Virginia received a BA from Heidelberg University in Tiffin, Ohio, and did post-graduate work at SUNY at Brockport, NY. She married Robert Rankin, with whom she had one son, Richard. Both preceded Virginia in death. Virginia taught elementary school for many years in Rochester. In 1975, Virginia married William McCambridge and moved to Fort Collins. She was a long time, faithful member of First Presbyterian Church and a longtime volunteer with Meals on Wheels. A proud member of the Mayflower Society, Virginia immersed herself in genealogy. The adjectives used by all who came into contact with Virginia were "lovely and gracious". She was a role model of how to live a dignified life with humor. Virginia is survived by a niece, Barbara Wilson of Lowell, Massachusetts.
A public Graveside Service will be held on Wednesday, May 31, 2017, at 1:00 p.m. at Roselawn Cemetery.
Memorials can be made in Virginia's name to Meals on Wheels or the First Presbyterian Church Building Fund.
