Viola Veronica Barella Garcia, 77, born and raised in Ft. Collins, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family. Married to John Garcia, the love of her life for 54 years. She was the most kind hearted, loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother, mother-in-law and friend. She will be missed dearly and will forever be in our hearts. Viola grew up in Ft. Collins where she worked as a nurse, home healthcare nurse and outreach worker. She loved spending time with her family, going to the family cabin and enjoyed going to Black Hawk. She taught her family to show kindness and respect to everyone. Viola and John welcomed everyone into their home and showed her love by cooking great food such as homemade tortillas, tomales and cheesecake. Helping people was very important to her and she spent a lot of time volunteering at the Volunteer Clearing House and various other organizations. She took the time to share her knowledge of Ft. Collins Hispanic history by creating the film, Mi-Gente. She was in the process of making a cookbook filled with family recipes, it will now be finished by her family. She also spent time researching local baseball team history, Merchants, American Legion and Rebels. Viola is survived by her husband, John Garcia; son, Claude Garcia Barb; daughter, Marie Barrington Dave; grandchildren, LaBrooke Bjorneboe Devin, Claudia Garcia, Anthony Garcia Kara, Danyelle Garcia and Brianna Martinez; great grandchildren, Kya, Mya, Maylee, Demi due in November, and Cassidy due in November.
