Beloved Husband, Father and Grandfather, Victor Herbert Specht, 96, of Fort Collins, CO passed away on Wednesday, October 25, 2017 at home surrounded by his loved ones. Born April 23, 1921, in Fort Collins, he was the seventh son of nine brothers and sisters of George and Katherine Specht.
Victor enlisted in the Navy during WWII, and was shipped to the Solomon Islands campaign in the Pacific Theatre. Prior to sailing overseas, Victor met his future wife at a USO dance in California. Upon returning home, Victor and Doris were married on February 24, 1946 in California then relocated to Fort Collins.
In 1955, Victor and Doris opened their business, Specht's Floor and Wall Coverings which they owned and operated for 40 years. Victor enjoyed fishing, camping, church, Bible studies, restoring and remodeling automobiles, remodeling properties, and football.
He is survived by his loving wife of 72 years, Doris; two children, Diane Specht of Fort Collins, and Christine Turbeville of Nashville; one grandchild Kalyn Specht of Blacksburg, Virginia; a son-in-law William Turbeville or Nashville; and one sister Millie Shannon of Greeley.
A Memorial Service will be held November 4, 2017 at 11:30am at First Presbyterian Church, 531 S. College Ave., Fort Collins. Burial with Military Honors will follow at Grandview Cemetery. A visitation will be held Friday from 5 to 7pm at Bohlender Funeral Chapel.
