Vic "VJ" "Skeeter" Johnson, age 53, passed away at his home in Ft. Collins, Colorado, on December 1, 2012 due to cancer. Vic was born on August 15, 1959 in Walla Walla, Washington to Victor and Mildred Johnson. He graduated from Wa Hi in 1977 and Whitman College in Walla Walla, Washington in 1981. Vic earned his Master's degree in Philosophy from Colorado State University in 1992. At the time of his death, Vic was managing the residential facility for Community Corrections in Larimer County. He was recently awarded the Judge Conrad L. Ball Award for his significant contributions in improving the quality of justice in Larimer County and was named employee of the month for Larimer County in August. Vic dedicated his life to helping others. He worked with children with special needs, volunteered with the children's program in Bible Study Fellowship, and helped offenders become productive members of society. He enjoyed many hobbies including riding a 6 foot tall unicycle, juggling, mountain biking, hiking, reading, listening to music and spending time with friends. Above all, Vic dedicated his life to his family. He is survived by his wife, Jody, of 22 years, his three children; Erin 20, Isaiah 17 and Addie 13 and his unofficially adopted daughter, Alex Scheel 19. Vic loved his children beyond words. Vic is also survived by his sister, Linda Sue Buehler of Walla Walla, Washington, numerous in-laws, nieces, nephews and close family friends. He was predeceased by his mother and father. We would like to thank our family, friends and the staff at Community Corrections for their amazing outpouring of love and support throughout Vic's illness. A memorial service will be held at the Vineyard Church at 1201 Riverside Avenue in Fort Collins, Colorado on Saturday, December 15th at 2:00 p.m. A benefit concert, featuring the Touch Monkeys, will be held at Avogadro's Number at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 16th to help the family with ongoing expenses.
