Vernelle W. Homan, 93, passed from this world on Jan. 13, 2008, in Fort Collins. She was born in Christopher, Ill., on April 21, 1914, to Fred and Mabel Adkins Weber. She grew up in Christopher and graduated from high school there. She moved to St. Louis, Mo., in 1937 to attend business school and worked as a secretary and bookkeeper for many years. She married Robert Homan in St. Louis Dec. 20, 1947. They lived in Florissant, Mo., for many years. Vernelle moved to Fort Collins in 2000 to be close to family. She is survived by her sons, Jim Debbie Homan and John Mary Homan, of Fort Collins; a daughter, Judy Dick of Coggon, Iowa; and grandsons, Oliver Homan, Ben and Andy Isaacson. Vernelle was an active member of Florissant Presbyterian Church and involved in her Circle and other church activities. She also volunteered for the hospital auxiliary and enjoyed researching family genealogy. She was a gentle soul, loved the beauty of flowers and time spent with family and friends, especially her "girl friends." She was gracious in accepting help from family, caregivers, her doctors, and the many others who helped her since moving to Fort Collins. Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Bob, in 1986; and brother, Kenneth Weber. Services will be at 11 a.m., Saturday at Bohlender Funeral Chapel, with viewing from 9 to 10:30 a.m., before the service. The Rev. Karen Lowe will officiate at the service. Contributions may be made to Hospice of Larimer County or Florissant Presbyterian Church, in care of Bohlender Funeral Chapel. Interment will be at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St Louis, at a later date.
