Listen to Obituary
Torin Salmons Thorsgard was welcomed on July 31, 1993 to Kyja Thorsgard and Joe Salmons in Denver, CO. Torin was beloved by his parents, the apple of his grandparents eyes, and an energetic boy with a beautiful sense of wonder. He was a well-liked classmate and many of his greatest friendships were formed in his years at Slavens Elementary and while at Littleton High School. He excelled academically and athletically playing basketball and lacrosse. One highlight of his high school years was a volunteer trip to Kenya. Torin graduated from high school in 2011 and went on to thoroughly enjoy Colorado State University in Fort Collins where he received a degree in Natural Resource Recreation and Tourism. Torin held an important position at his fraternity Pi Kappa Phi as the Chair of the Standards Board. His faithful German Shepherd, Ajax, was the fraternity mascot.

Torin was an avid outdoorsman who loved hiking, hunting, skiing, and exploring nature. He became a passionate fisherman at an early age inspired by trips up north to his Thorsgard grandparents lake cabin and river home in Minnesota.

Torin was an innately creative individual. At a very young age he grew to be a gifted, avid & talented artist. Torin's art, illustrations, and designs were diverse, spontaneous and ingenious. His fly-fishing flies are also works of art.

When Torin started his hobby farm in Fort Collins his dreams became a reality and Thorsgard Land and Livestock was born. He was so proud of the farm and loved what he did with his girlfriend, O'Bryan at his side. He enjoyed his dogs, (Ajax and Dave), 2 cats, the 7 goats, countless chickens, 7 cattle; and even loved taking his 2 water buffalo for swims in the backyard. Torin's sister, Kennedy, loved her brother and spending time with him at the farm.

Torin loved and appreciated his job as Operations Manager with North Poudre Water Irrigation Co. and it showed everyday. His co-workers were family, "working together was actually laughing together". Torin enjoyed his position and the myriad challenges it entailed. His career tied his passions for the outdoors and for water. It was a perfect fit.

Torin's strong character qualities are remarkable and worth noting. His laid-back, patient demeanor was a noticeable attribute, he was bright, approachable and a wonderful conversationist. Torin had a great sense humor, and always loved a good prank. He was a leader for his friend group, an organizer and the responsible one people turned to. Torin was admired for his ability to think through situations and problem solve.

Torin tragically died September 18, 2022 doing something he loved - hiking in the mountains near his home in Fort Collins. He was loving and well loved by many. He is greatly missed.

Torin is survived by his mother, Kyja Thorsgard (Dan Wold), his father, Joe Salmons (Donna Book), sister, Kennedy Salmons, his girlfriend, O'Bryan Smith. We would also like to acknowledge the many loving and supporting relationships that played a part in Torin's life – Heidi Salmons and Mike Stebbins, Uncle(s) Knute (Nancy) Thorsgard, Eric (Gerri) Thorsgard, Aunt Nicki (Lou) Zeidner, Dan Wold's son and daughter, Nathan and Erin, many cousins and all of the respective extended families and great friends.
