Tom McClelland was born June 16, 1953 in Oklahoma City to John and Anne McClelland, the middle of three boys. As a child, Tom enjoyed spending summers at the family cabin in Pitkin, Colorado. After graduating with a business degree from the University of Wyoming in 1975, he opened his first hardware store in Montrose, Colorado. In 1990, he moved his family to Fort Collins and opened Downtown Ace Hardware. Tom was fortunate enough to have a career that he loved and which afforded him the freedom to pursue interests like spending time with his family, 4-wheeling, dirt bike riding, and snowmobiling. He loved tinkering on motors, working in his garden and planting trees. He was active in his church and was generous with his time and resources. His quiet and patient manner will be missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his wife, Lynne; children, Sarah and David; step-children, Jared, Jennifer, Jacob, Josh, and Jordan; grandchildren, Ellery, Sydney, and Logan; brothers, John and Bill; step siblings, Eddie, Diana, and David. Tom passed away on March 8, 2011. A service will be held Monday, March 14th at 10:00 a.m., Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Stake Center, 3800 Mountain Lion Dr., Loveland.
