Timothy James Fulton

Jan 3, 1951 — May 13, 2026

Listen to Obituary
Timothy James Fulton, 75, passed away peacefully on May 13, 2026 in Windsor CO after a 4 year battle with Parkinsons.

A celebration of Life will be held on Friday, May 29th at 1pm at Bohlender Funeral Chapel in Fort Collins.

Tim was born on January 3rd, 1951 in Heidelberg Germany into a military family to James Fulton and Florine Tripple. From Germany they moved to Maryland, Texas, New Mexico and eventually to Cheyenne, WY. At the age of 12, he moved with his mother to Anaheim, CA where he got to spend his adolescence in Southern California during the 1960s, which he really enjoyed.

He joined the Army in 1968 and served in Vietnam until 1971, he was honorably discharged at age 20. He came back to California where he met his wife, Joan, and they moved to Fort Collins where they stayed married for 5 years until mutually deciding to separate.

In late 1984, Tim met Vicki and Amber after putting an ad in the local newspaper in search of a roommate. They lived together as roommates off and on for 11 years and became like family. Tim and Vicki never dated, but Tim became like a father to Amber, forming a deep bond.

Tim decided to go back to school and received a Bachelor's degree in Human Development & Family Studies from CSU in May of 1992. He worked at the Universities newspaper, "The Collegian", while attending.

After he got his degree, he worked as a preschool teacher for 10 years. He absolutely loved working with children, but got fed up with the adults and decided it was time to change things up a bit. After that he happily worked the graveyard shift at 7-11 until he retired.

He lived with his roommate and best friend, Dick for 25+ years where he eventually took on being his caretaker when Dick's health started to fade. Around 2022 Tim could no longer help as he himself was facing his Parkinson's disease diagnosis.

Tim fought hard until the very end, ALWAYS kept a positive attitude and never complained. He was the most calm, compassionate person you'd ever meet. He cared deeply about humanity and always did the right thing, keeping others in mind even through his own pain and suffering. Even in death his generosity lives on through body donation to help find a cure for the very disease that took his life.

Tim is survived by his daughter, Amber Burkholder, son in law, Cliff Burkholder, grandchildren, Xander Burkholder, Aliyah Burkholder & Johnny Burkholder, Sister, Karen Emmett, Nieces, Judy Groesnick & Katie Emmett, Nephew Chuck Emmett and numerous great nieces and nephews.

Tim will be missed more than words can express. We are heartbroken to lose him, but take comfort in knowing he has completed his earthly journey and is now resting free from pain and suffering.
