Thomas O. Mead, 56, of Fort Collins, Colo., passed away September 3, 2014 due to complications stemming from congestive heart failure. Tom was born April 2, 1958 in Nebraska City, Neb. to Thomas O. and Shirley C. Mead. He was raised in Nebraska City and graduated from Nebraska City High School, where he was a multi-sport star, before studying at Doane College in Crete, Neb. Tom married Ann Marie Harney on June 20, 1980 in Paul, Neb. and the happy couple made their home in Fort Collins for the last 34 years. While in Colorado, he spent many years playing softball and basketball in recreational leagues in Fort Collins. He coached his son's soccer, baseball and basketball teams and was the Cubmaster of Pack 188 for many years. In 1994, Tom, a Life Scout and member of the Order of the Arrow, was named the Thompson-Poudre Cubmaster of the Year. He worked for 28 years at Hewlett Packard in a variety of different capacities before retiring as a Program Manager in 2007. In recent years Tom enjoyed camping, fishing, ATV riding as well as relaxing at his property in the Crystal Lakes subdivision near Red Feather Lakes, Colo. with family and friends. He was an avid fan of the Nebraska Cornhuskers as well as all the sports teams in Colorado. Survivors include his wife, Ann; son, Kyle Mead of Denver; mother Shirley and father Thomas of Nebraska City; brothers Bob Mead of Millard, Neb., and Brad Mead of Nebraska City. Preceding Thomas in death is his son Bryan S. Mead. Memorial contributions made be made to Ann Marie Mead in care of Bohlender Funeral Chapel, 121 W. Olive, Fort Collins, Colorado 80524. A memorial service will be held at Bohlender Funeral Chapel, 121 W. Olive St., Ft. Collins at 1 p.m. on Monday, September 8, 2014. Interment and reception will follow.
