Thomas William Hackleman of Cowdrey, Colorado, passed away at home on November 20, 2014. Tom was born on December 18, 1944, in Greeley, Colorado, to William and Ethel (Payne) Hackleman, the first of three children. When Tom was about four, the family joined Ethel's parents on their North Park Ranch near Cowdrey. Here, Tom developed a basic love for ranch life and cattle. Later, Tom's parents leased the Cowdrey ranch and moved to a farm in Bellvue, Colorado. He attended Cache La Poudre schools and spent two years in Uncle Sam's Army down south in Texas. After his Army duty, Tom returned to Fort Collins, Colorado, working at Woodward Governor long enough to save money to buy his own cows. Along with his cows, Tom returned to Cowdrey and the family ranch where he has remained for 44 years. During those years, Tom found and married Carol, his true love.
Tom has been active in and is a past president of the North Park Stockgrowers Association. He also served in many capacities on the North Park Soil Conservation Board and has served the North Park community and agriculture industry in multiple roles.
Tom is survived by his wife, Carol; a stepdaughter, Tambria Kelley, her children: Matthew (Brienne), Bradford (Lucinda), Amy (Adam), and grandchildren; a stepson, Timothy Kelley (Denise), and their children: Kristalynne (Marc), Sean, Cherese, Paul, and a grandchild; a sister, Jean Olson (Michael) and their children: Holly (Brent), Andrew (Kelly), and grandchildren; a brother, Allen Hackleman, his children: Amy (Mark), Jenny (Jason), Mark (Jeanie), and grandchildren.
