Thomas William Bondhus, 61, a Fort Collins native and lifelong resident, passed away Wednesday, September 8, 2010. Born March 10, 1949 to J. Merlin Bondhus and Dorothy June Bondhus, he was the eldest of their four children. Tom attended Putnam Elementary, Lincoln Junior High and graduated from Poudre High School in 1967 as one of "the last of the first". He was especially proud that he played on the varsity football squad as a sophomore. Following high school, Tom married Nancy Sigward. Though the marriage was short-lived, it provided Tom with the great pride of having two daughters, Candy Bradley and Shawna Johnson. Though he was thought to be a jack of all trades, Tom was best known as a small business owner The T-Shirt Factory. For the last ten years he was employed as a machine operator for Technical Molded Products, a firm he believed to be the best. On June 14, 2003, Tom married Janie Black and they had seven happy years together. His family was hers and hers, his. Tom was a gentle spirit and friend to all. He was kind-hearted and always willing to help anyone. He most appreciated family gatherings and get-togethers with his friends. His greatest pride was in his daughters and his grandchildren. Tom was a NASCAR racing fan having owned and driven his own car. In addition, he enjoyed classic western music, his Woodie Wagon collection, watching the Denver Broncos, and, being Norwegian, the Minnesota Vikings. He enjoyed life to the fullest. Tom was preceded in death by his father, J. Merlin Bondhus; mother, Dorothy June Bondhus; and youngest brother, David Allen Bondhus. He is survived by his wife, Janie Bondhus; brother, John Bondhus Gail, and his sister, Beverly Miller Dale all of Fort Collins; as well as his twelve grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncle, cousins and many friends. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday at Bohlender Funeral Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society in care of Bohlender Funeral Chapel, 121 W.
