Jeff Makepeace, 47, Jennifer Makepeace, 45, Addison Makepeace, 10, and Benjamin Makepeace, 10, all of Fort Collins, Colorado, died on Friday, Sept. 15, 2017. The family had a second home in Steamboat Springs, Colorado.

They died after their private plane crashed in unincorporated Garfield County about 10 miles north of Glenwood Springs.

Jeff Makepeace was born and raised in Naples, New York. He was the owner of Lind's Plumbing and Heating in Fort Collins. He is survived by his father, Jake Makepeace; mother Bonnie Makepeace of Florida; stepmother Wendy Makepeace of Naples; stepmother Mary Makpeace of Naples; sister Jennifer Makepeace-Yerkovich (husband John) of Naples; brother Caleb Makepeace (wife Pepper) of Milliken, Colorado; and several uncles, aunts and cousins.

Jennifer Makepeace (formerly Hickey) was born and raised in Fontana, California. She was a stay-at-home mother. She is survived by her parents, Charles and Susan Hickey of Fontana; brother Chuck Hickey of Denver; brother Steven Hickey (wife Sandra) of Fontana; brother Kevin Hickey (wife Erin) of Montrose, California; sister Sheryl Griebel (husband Stefan) of Boulder Colorado; and numerous uncles, aunts and cousins.

Jeff and Jennifer Makepeace were married for 14 years.

Addison and Benjamin Makepeace were born and being raised in Fort Collins. They were fourth-graders at Bauder Elementary School in Fort Collins. They are survived by their grandparents, and numerous uncles, aunts and cousins.

The Makepeaces were known for their adventurous spirits and their love for all things outdoors. They were always on the go, whether it be hiking up Horsetooth Mountain, skiing in Steamboat or flying to be with family for a weekend adventure.
