Terry Allen Rasmussen passed away unexpectantly after a short illness on Tuesday, March 5th, he was 78.
Terry was born in Racine, Wisconsin on November 6th, 1945, to Earl Rasmussen and Ann Rasmussen, after 10 years of trying to conceive. He was their joy. At nine months he contracted polio and lost the use of his left arm. Terry was never handicapped. It amazed all, who knew him, at everything he could do with one arm.
He graduated from Racine Lutheran High School in 1963 and had won a statewide math contest. Terry graduated from the University of Wisconsin Pharmacy School in 1968 and passed the State Boards in 1969. He interned at Haas Drug Store in Racine, but his heart was for being a clinical pharmacist where he could use his education, and not be selling candy. He joined Racine St. Lukes Hospital, working there for 4 years.
Terry met Margaret Schuessler on June 23, 1966, and they married on May 24th, 1969. Their union lasted just short of celebrating their 55th Anniversary by 2 months. They had no children. After two trips to Colorado, Terry and Margie moved to Colorado in 1974, becoming employed by Poudre Valley Hospital until he retired in 2012. At that point Terry became very active with their HOA. He became "The Pond Guy", taking care of all things related to the maintenance of the four ponds in the community. He had a wonderful crew of volunteers sharing those duties. Terry coordinated the work schedule of his crew to make sure the Canada Geese didn't stay around when the HOA board purchased the now beloved 'Goosenator'. Grown men became little boys, and our sidewalks and common grounds remain clean for adults and children to enjoy. One of Terry's favorite pastime was sitting on the back patio, or in the secret garden, looking over his domain, and sitting with friends who were walking by who stopped to chat. He treasured all his friends.
He was a member of LifePointe Church (formally 1st Baptist) for 50 years and knew Jesus as his LORD and Savior. He supported Margie in whatever she chose to do whether it was photography, leadership in Bible Study Fellowship, and latter at two nursing homes. He happily was her 'baggage bearer' and helping where needed as she conducted the two Sunday morning services for the past 35 years, He said his job title was 'crowd control'. Terry lived a full life, valued his friendships, saw many beautiful areas as they traveled, and most of all the time he and Margie shared together.
Terry is survived by his wife, Margie; sister-in-law Linda Odell and her husband Stephen of Paradise Valley, AZ; brother-in-law George King of Osaka, Japan (his wife Ellen, deceased) and his children Ruth, John and Judy and their families; sister-in-law Becky King (Bismark King, deceased) of Kootenal, ID.
