Teresa Louise Madigan

August 21, 1950 — January 7, 2019

Listen to Obituary
Teresa "Terry" Louise (Burk) Madigan, 68, of Loveland, CO passed away suddenly at home on Monday, January 7, 2019.

Terry Louise Burk was born on August 21,1950 in Fort Collins, CO. and she was the 1st grandchild to both sides of the family. She attended Wellington schools, graduating from Poudre High School in 1968.

Being the eldest of 5 children, right after high school, Terry moved out of the house into an apartment with school friends. It was at that apartment complex that she met her husband to be, Michael Stephen Jensen. They married on September 4, 1970. Mike at the time, was in the Army and stationed at Homestead, FL, where Terry and Mike moved shortly after they married. Together they had three girls; twins, Heather and Celeste Jensen and daughter, Nicole Jensen. Terry married John Bernard Madigan on May 10, 1986. They later divorced.

Growing up in a household of 4 girls and 1 boy, with the boy in the middle of the two sets of girls, life was always interesting. Beginning Memorial weekend, the family would head up to the mountains, fishing and camping. And would spend a lot of the summers that way. During the school year, it was baking bread, making butter, doing LOADS of laundry and listening to Terry practicing her saxophone. Terry was always the younger siblings "other mom" and tried to made sure her siblings had what they needed growing up and she is remembered by them as encouraging, unconditionally loving, generous, and always up for impromptu fun and laughter. Growing up she could be found "camping" sandwiched like a sardine between her siblings and the dog in the family's favorite Jeep in Walden, racing motorcycles in the backyard, and clomping around in her cute red cowboy boots.

For several years, Terry owned and operated Terazas-Not Just Gyros sandwich shop in downtown Loveland, but primarily worked as an accountant and homemaker who enjoyed making pottery at her home studio, watercolor painting, playing guitar and singing, picking wildflowers, walking in nature, campfires, music, National Public Radio, mahjong, sitting in the porch swing, and long talks with her sisters and daughters. Ever the optimist, Terry had a "can do" attitude and would always lend an ear and sage advice for life's problems brought to her table. She was referred to as "best friend" by many.

We were blessed to learn many lessons from Terry during her 68 years and we will miss her greatly.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Loleita Burk; father, Jack Burk; grandmother, Goldie Burk; grandmother, Mary B. Taylor; sister, Linda Burk; brother, Ernest Lloyd "Speedy" Burk; son-in-law, David Rodriguez (Celeste). She is survived by her daughters, Heather Jensen of Loveland, Celeste Jensen of Windsor and Nicole Jensen of Poulsbo, WA; her father, Lloyd Burk of Cheyenne, WY; her sisters, Beth Hixson of Fort Collins and Robin Wood of Wellington, several grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and several aunts and uncles.

Memorial Service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 17, 2019 at Bohlender Funeral Chapel with Debra Dawkins officiating. A reception will follow directly after the service at Steve and Beth Hixson's, located at 209 Bradley Drive, Fort Collins, CO 80524.
