Teresa Eldene Brauser

March 5, 1955 — April 20, 2024

Listen to Obituary
The woman we have affectionately known as "Mother Teresa" was born on March 5, 1955 to Eldon and Ila Horner in Ainsworth, Nebraska. However, she didn't receive her given name of Teresa Eldene until six weeks after the day she was born. She was the third born of six sisters and one brother. She grew up helping out on her family's ranch and dairy farm in Rose, Nebraska. Singing and playing the piano with her family at home is what inspired her to form her own band-trio at a young age with her siblings, called "The Horner Sisters".

After graduating from Rock County High School she went on to college, majoring in music studies like her older sister. After deciding that teaching wasn't the right path for her she changed her major to computer science.

Her career started as an administrative coordinator in California. While flying on a plane, she met Larry Brauser. They were married in April of 1986.  While living in California they had their first born daughter, Kirsten. Fostering over 130 children, Brandon, Michel, David, Latrell and Bradley officially joined the family. She always said that her calling from God was to care for children.

She earned her CNA from Front Range Community College. Following her  unselfish love for others (regardless of her own physical limitations) led her to help others and care for the elderly. She found the perfect fit in Home health care. With her quick wit and sense of humor she brought lightheartedness and laughter to many needy families.

Her love language was always to cook and bake food for others. She would bake as quoted "the Perfect" cinnamon rolls and monkey bread, according to her kids. She looked forward to Tuesdays with her bible study group. Her bible study friends say they will greatly miss her genuineness and her caring and loving personality. As to quote their words, "She could cut through the BS, doing it in a kind and quiet way". You could also find her pet sitting the puppies, involved in church activities, cuddling up with a good book, or having coffee and weekend dates with good friends.

That was the Teresa we continue to know and love, and will always remember. Thank you "Mother Teresa" from the bottom of all of our hearts.

Teresa was preceded in death by her parents, Eldon and Ila Horner, sister Velda Klooz, and brother Warren Horner.

Survived by her children Kirsten & Nick Devine of Largo, FL, Brandon Brauser of Ft. Collins, CO, Michel Brauser of Lakewood, CO, David Brauser of Thornton, CO, Latrell Crane of Omaha, NE and Bradley Metcalf of NE. Sisters, Carolyn & Stan Clark of Long Pine, NE, Joyce & Brian Grinder of Cheney, WA, Mary & Tom Boehm of Elbing, KS, Rachel & Gordon Busenitz of Newton, KS, and Genia & James Entz of Benton, KS as well as 35 nieces, nephews and their families.
