August 27, 1944 — July 8, 2024

Listen to Obituary
In the early hours of Sunday, July 8, 2024, Susan Minnick Mosier succumbed to the Alzheimer's Disease that slowly robbed her of her memories, passing away in her sleep surrounded by her family in Fort Collins, Colorado, where she lived nearly all her adult life. She was 79 years old.

She was born on August 27, 1944, in Perry, Iowa, to Daniel and Maxine Minnick.

Susie, as she was affectionately called by most, lived in Albuquerque, New Mexico and then Ordway, Colorado, where her father owned and edited the local newspaper, and where she met her life-long friend, Mary McDonough Bonham, and then the love of her life, Arvin, during her senior year at Ordway High School. Their first date was her senior prom. After two years at the University of New Mexico, Susie transferred to her beloved Colorado State University, where she graduated in 1967 with a degree in English. She married Arvin on December 30, 1965, in Ordway, and honeymooned at the Broadmoor Hotel in Colorado Springs. They lived in Fort Collins for the next forty years, raising two children, Andrew, born in 1972, and Kati, born in 1975. Later in life, Susie and Arvin lived in Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina., Natick, Massachusetts, and Green Valley, Arizona, before returning to Fort Collins in 2020.

Susie was a consummate traveler, baker, host, and an ever-present figure in her children's athletic, artistic, and academic endeavors. Her greatest joy came from her grandchildren, Tate, Decker, Dempsey, Henry, Mat, and Mary.

Susie is survived by her husband of 58 years, Arvin Mosier, of Fort Collins; son Andrew and his wife, Sarah, of Fort Collins, Colorado; daughter, Kati Bannish, of Wellesley, Massachusetts; her treasured grandchildren; and her siblings: Nancy Smith, and Robert Minnick.

A celebration of her life will be held in the fall. Please reply to susan.mosier.memorial@gmail.com notification of the celebration of her life.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in her name to the Alzheimer's Association https://www.alz.org or Pathways Hospice Care https://pathways-care.org/memorial-giving/ .
