Susan Elizabeth Jaranson-Witherow "Sue", 60, of Fort Collins, died Monday, December 20th, at Medical Center of the Rockies in Loveland, Colorado. Sue was born February 20, 1950 in Wadena, Minnesota. She was the third daughter and fourth child of E.E. Jaranson and Lucille Mary Brow Jaranson. She graduated from Saint Francis High School in Little Falls, Minnesota and received a BA in Sociology and English from Dominican College in Racine, Wisconsin in 1972. Sue followed her older sister, Margie to Colorado in 1982 where she married Robert "Bob" Witherow on May 29, 1992. The families of Sue and Bob are grateful to Dick and Anne Lund of Spicer, MN for introducing the two of them. Sue worked for Larimer County Department of Human Services DHS for 26 years. Much of her time with DHS was spent working in the Child Support unit. In recent years she worked for the Low Income Energy Assistance unit. Sue's passion and hobby was going to garage sales in search of antique treasures for her home and flea market booth. She was also an avid hockey and football fan. Her favorite teams were the Colorado Eagles, Colorado Avalanche and University of Minnesota Hockey and Football teams. In earlier years, she was an avid crafter and enjoyed cross-stitch and crocheting. Sue's other favorite past times were fishing with her father and refinishing furniture with her father-in-law before each passed away. She is preceded in death by her beloved parents, E. E. and Lucille Jaranson and her in-laws, M. F. "Rusty" and Lucille "Babe" Witherow, as well as her black lab Otto and chocolate lab Molly. Survivors include her husband, Bob Witherow of Fort Collins; brother, Arvid Jaranson Diane of Baudette, MN; sisters, Janet Hailing of Otsego, MN, Margaret "Margie" Eric of Palm Desert, CA; 3 nieces, 5 nephews and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews. Sue will be remembered as a warm and generous spirit. She had an endearing charm and personality that will be deeply missed by the friends and family who love her so much. Sue's family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the dear friends, neighbors and co-workers who shared their compassion, love and support during her brief illness. A memorial service is planned for Wednesday, December 29, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. The service will take place at the Bohlender Funeral Chapel.
