Steven Anthony Wilson left this world on August 27, 2026, just shy of his 53rd birthday-and far too soon for a man who still had plenty of opinions, stories, art, and probably a few more DC figurines left to collect.
Steven was born October 17, 1973, to Barbara and Toney Wilson Sr. He was a son, a brother, an uncle, an artist, a collector, a loyal friend, and a man who was happiest simply hanging out with the people he loved.
Art was part of who Steven was. He loved creating it, whether with paint or digitally, and he saw the world through an artist's eyes. He was also a devoted DC Comics fan and began collecting figurines at age 19. Over the next three decades, what began as a collection became...well, let's just say Steven never embraced the concept of "enough."
Steven worked a variety of jobs during his life, but his favorite was Life of the Party-a name that, in retrospect, seems remarkably appropriate. He loved people. He loved his friends. Give
Steven good company, conversation and an opportunity to laugh, and he was exactly where he wanted to be.
Steven endured serious illness for many years and faced more than his share of difficult days. But illness is not the story of his life. The better story is found in the art he created, the things he collected, the laughter he caused, the friendships he treasured and the people who loved him.
Steven is survived by his mother, Barbara Wilson; his father, Toney Wilson Sr.; his sister, Melissa Nilson-Castellanos; his brother, Toney Wilson Jr., Aunt Diane Castellanos and the family and many friends whose lives are a little quieter without him.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Joe and Nora Castellanos and Ralph and Maria Wilson, and by his beloved partner, Brian Carpenter.
Steven did not want a funeral, and his family will honor that wish.
And really, a traditional funeral never sounded much like Steven anyway.
He would much rather be remembered through stories, laughter, friendship and art-and preferably with everyone having a good time.
So that is exactly how we will remember him.
