Steven Michael Moore, of Fort Collins, passed away Thursday January 29, 2015, after battling brain cancer.
He was born July 3, 1954 in Colorado Springs. Steve graduated from Northglenn High School in 1972 and received a Bachelor's degree from Colorado State in 1976. Steve worked 37 years in the information technology (IT) field. He spent the first two years in Tulsa, Oklahoma with Cities Service Company (Citgo oil). The last 35 years were spent with Larimer County in various IT positions until retiring in July 2013. Since 1996, Steve was the Webmaster, responsible for the initial creation and maintenance of www.larimer.org , the 2008 winner of best local government website by the National Association of Government Webmasters. An avid cyclist, he rode 30,000 miles since 1993, including 190 miles in one day in Sweden in 1999.
He was preceded in death by his parents Lloyd and Shirley Moore, also of Fort Collins.
He is survived by sister, Sue Lassiter, her husband Dan of Janesville, Wisconsin and nephew Jarred Lassiter of Burlington, Iowa.
Steve was known to his friends as Stevie Ray, after the late Stevie Ray Vaughan, one of his favorite musicians.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, 4:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. at The Rio, The Agave Room, North Ballroom, 143 W. Mountain Ave.
