Steven Paul Chorak, 70, passed away surrounded by his family on July 13, 2024, following complications from emergency brain surgery.
Steve was born October 9, 1953, in Visalia, California to Stephen Paul Chorak and Jo Ellen Lowery Chorak. As a child, Steve loved practical jokes especially teasing his mother. He moved to Moraga, California during high school and graduated from Campolindo High School in 1970. During high school, he met the love of his life, D'Ann Woolley in a computer science class. Steve continued his education at University of California at Berkeley, graduating in 1976 with a BS in electrical engineering.
Steve and D'Ann were married February 13, 1976, during their senior year of college. After college, they moved to Mesa, Arizona for a year, then in 1978 to Fort Collins, Colorado, which became their forever home. Steve then spent a total of 36 years working in the microprocessor industry in Fort Collins.
Steve was a man of faith. He joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, which would become an integral part of his life, in December of 1975. He served the Lord faithfully in many positions in the Church.
Steve was a loyal friend, liked to laugh, and had a big heart in loving his friends, family, and others. Steve enjoyed numerous hobbies during his lifetime. Steve had an engineer's mind and enjoyed problem solving. He studied construction and got a contractor's license to manage the building of their 2nd home in Fort Collins. He enjoyed target shooting, woodworking, remote control planes, and launching rockets and fireworks. Steve enjoyed playing games throughout his life, first playing cribbage with D'Ann as teenagers and young adults. As their children and family grew, they enjoyed family time games together. He loved to read. After retirement, Steve and D'Ann would check books out of the library and read them out loud to each other. Favorites included mysteries, science fiction, and classics.
Steve was preceded in death by his father Stephen Paul Chorak and his mother Jo Ellen Lowery Chorak. He is survived by his wife D'Ann Woolley, and their five children: son Adam Chorak and wife Marie of Casper, WY with their children Weston and Whitney, daughter Erin Chorak of Colorado Springs, CO, daughter Laura Milroy and husband Tyler of Fort Collins, CO, daughter Katie Sadovskis and husband Vitali of Riga, Latvia with their daughter Stella D'Ann, and son John Chorak and wife Erin of Beavercreek, OH with sons James and Henry.
A Visitation will be held from 7 - 8:30pm on Friday, July 19 at Bohlender Funeral Chapel, 121 W. Olive St., Ft. Collins, CO 80524.
A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, July 20 at 10am at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (600 E Swallow Rd, Fort Collins, CO).
