Stephen Walter Taylor, age 69, passed away at his home in Fort Collins, Colorado, July 22, 2026.
Stephen was born in 1956, son of Owen and Rita (nee Ricke) Taylor, in Glen Ridge, New Jersey. Steve grew up in New Jersey and Denver, Colorado. He graduated from Santa Clara University, San Jose, CA, in 1978 with a degree in engineering. He furthered his education with a Master's degree in Applied Sciences from San Jose State University, Jurist Doctor, and graduate studies in astrophysics at the Max Planck Institute in Heidelberg, Germany
Steve worked as a semiconductor engineer, in aerospace physics, and in intellectual property law. He was a lifelong musician, playing and teaching guitar, keyboard, percussion, along with composing and arranging. His greatest joy in his final year was teaching music and passing on the legacy of classical and early rock and roll music.
Steve is preceded in death by his father Owen Taylor, his mother Rita Ricke Taylor. He is survived by his sister Lynn Taylor Sistko and her husband Robert Sistko, and his niece Anna Thompson.
Funeral service will be held at Shepherd of The Hills Lutheran Church, 1200 S. Taft Rd, Fort Collins, on Friday July 31, 2026, from 11 am – noon.
