Steve Dunne, 75, passed away of natural causes on February 24, 2026. He was born in Mineola, New York to David and Blanche Dunne, February 7, 1951. His family moved to Hicksville, New York in 1957, where he lived until relocating to Fort Collins, Colorado. He graduated from Hicksville High School in 1969 and Nassau Community College in 1971.
Steve enjoyed many hobbies, including leather work, refinished furniture, and stained glass artistry to name a few.
He enjoyed reading from a very young age and loved being surrounded by books. He had a very large collection which allowed him to read and learn about many things. He loved his two Golden Retrievers, Rainy and Ollie. They brought him much joy. He enjoyed walking them daily through City Park and meeting other dog owners.
Steve is survived by his sister Caroly Grace and her husband Victor; nephew Kevin and his wife Amelia, and their two daughters Johanna and Helena of Idaho.
Steve enjoyed sharing his vast knowledge of firearms and their inner workings. If you had a question on that subject, Steve was your "go to guy." He worked for years doing what he loved at Cache la Poudre Rifleworks and Rocky Mountain Shooter Supply.
He once went on a horseback riding, camping and river rafting trip in Vancouver, British Columbia full-filling one of his biggest dreams.
He also enjoyed going on Mountain Man Rendezvous with his friends. He sewed his own outfits of period clothing. He said it was like going back in time.
Steve's cremains will be interred at Grandview Cemetery in Fort Collins, Colorado in the near future. A memorial service will be held as well at a later date.
