Stanley Ward Schilling was born April 22, 1939 to Fred and Katie (Schwindt) Schilling, both deceased. Stan was the youngest of 5 boys. He was very close and involved with his brothers: Walter (Carol) Schilling of San Marcos, CA, Edwin Schilling (deceased), Vernon (Lois) Schilling of Fort Collins, CO and Gerald (LaNor) Schilling of Loveland/Windsor, CO. Stan was recently married to Janice (Scarborough ) on September 19, 2015. Stan was previously married to Rose (Souders) for 41 years and together they had a son and a daughter; Tedd (Luann) Schilling of Fort Collins, CO and Tammy (Dane) Dobberstine of San Antonio, TX. Stan has 4 wonderful grandsons, Alec & Dale Schilling of Fort Collins, CO and Daniel & Ryan Dobberstine of San Antonio, TX.
Stan proudly served in the US Navy from 1958 to 1962. During most of this time Stan served with his best friend and brother, Jerry Schilling.
Stan opened Vern's Top Shop in 1964 and purchased Vern's Tile and Linoleum in 1980. In 2003 he sold his businesses and retired.
Stan was well known for his racing career. From 1962 – 1975 he drag raced and raced semi pro stock car circle tracks in CO and WY. Stan was very proud of taking street cars and making them into track champions.
Stan had many hobbies that he enjoyed with his brothers, son and grandsons; including hunting, fishing, golf, bowling, softball and basketball. He coached his son's JAA football, basketball and baseball teams to many championships. Stan is best known for his hobby of restoring '55, '56, and '57 Chevy's; which he was still currently doing.
June 21, 2006 Stan (along with several other local dancers) went to Washington DC by special invitation to be filmed for the archives of Dutch Hop Music & Dance for The Library of Congress, representing the heritage of The Germans from the Volgo River area in Russia.
Stan was a newlywed of only 9 months. He and Janice met at his beloved Dutch Hop dances and were married September 19, 2015. They enjoyed traveling to Hawaii and dancing.
Stan was very proud of his German Heritage, being from Fort Collins, a successful business owner and serving in the US Navy. But Stan was eternally grateful for his very blessed relationship with his family especially his mother, brothers, children and grandsons.
