Charles Spike Hoffman, 58, formerly of Fort Collins died on February 5, 2015 following a short battle with cancer. He was born in Fort Collins on June 24, 1956 to Chuck and Pat Hoffman. He resided in Fort Collins until moving to Loveland, Colorado in 2012 with his wife Kim. Spike graduated from Poudre High School in 1974.
Spike was the original owner of The Carriage Shoppe Auto Body Repair which was sold in 1983. Spike then joined his parents in business expanding Skyline Mobile Home Park, which was originally built by his father in 1967. Upon completion of the expansion Spike started a construction business which would eventually become Express Concrete, which he owned and operated for over 20 years. From 1993 until 2010 Spike also co-owned Pro Construction Supply with his wife Kim. Spike was currently a Project Superintendant for Structures, Inc. a construction company in Englewood, CO. Spike was an accomplished machinist and welder. He always had a strong work ethic and took great pride in his work.
Spike loved auto racing; he began in 1974 racing modified stock cars, moving into midgets, and later sprint cars. He was an avid fan of Formula 1 Racing. One of his greatest pleasures was a quiet Sunday watching a race. He was also a fearless skier in his younger years. Spike was very involved in his children's sporting and school activities. Anyone who had the opportunity to meet Spike knew that his biggest passion was story telling.
Spike and Kim were married in Fort Collins on March, 14, 1987.
Spike is survived by his wife, Kim: daughter, Kaily and her husband, Mike Kannianen: daughter, Cassandra Hoffman and her fiancé, Donnell DeLosh: son, Spencer Hoffman; mother, Pat Hoffman; grandmother, Millie Cummings; and his brother-and-sister-in-law, Bert and Pam Nunn.
Preceding him in death are his father Chuck Hoffman and his sister Kathy Kay Hoffman.
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, February 14, 2015 11 a.m. at Fort Collins Bible Church, 2550 South Taft Hill Road, 80526.
