Sierra Linn Brewster, 22 months, of Wellington, CO, was granted her angel wings on July 14, 2011. Sierra was born in Fort Collins, CO, on September 03, 2009 to Brian and Keri Brewster. Born a micro-preemie, Sierra weighed only 1 pound 4 ounces. During her brief existence, this tiny bundle of joy courageously fought many of the conditions associated with premature birth, including chronic lung disease. Sierra's life would seem too short to many, but for those who were touched by her understood the quality of existence far exceeds the quality of time in which you live it. Through it all she somehow found a way to show her joy with an amazing smile. Sierra was able to bestow upon the world the profound lessons she was sent here to share, and she did so without ever speaking a word. She conveyed her message through her strength during pain and suffering, her determination to survive and continuing eagerness to learn about the world around her. Her voice and thoughts could always be 'herd' simply by watching her incredibly expressive face. Although Sierra's illness made her appear fragile, she demonstrated perseverance and the ability to overcome incredible odds and physical challenges. With her courage, she led those around her to understanding that each day is a blessing and an opportunity to create lasting memories.
Sierra enjoyed music, watching movies – Cinderella being her favorite – and especially play time with her big brother, Blake! She found great comfort in the arms of her Mother and Father as she was rocked many hours on end. Her final days were spent surrounded by family members and friends that Sierra had touched in so many profound ways throughout her short, yet very memorable life. We will never know the magnitude of lives that were touched, but we do know that all who knew her were extremely blessed.
Sierra leaves behind many caregivers who provided love and support, thus enhancing her quality of life. All of these people, too numerous to mention, provided Sierra with compassion and dignity in life. Although Sierra's days were few in number, she made her mark on the world and her memory will live on. It was an extreme privilege for Brian and Keri to be Sierra's parents.
Sierra is survived by her loving parents, Brian and Keri Brewster; brother Blake Brewster; Grandparents, Norman and Pamela Forristall and Van and Peggy Brewster; Great-Grandparents, Roy and Marilyn Cole; Great-Grandmother, Dorothy Brewster; Aunts and Uncles; Cousins and many other extended family.
