Sidney A. Klaege, 84 of Fort Collins, died Sunday, December 13, 2015 at Lemay Avenue Health and Rehab. A funeral was held at 3:00pm on Thursday, December 17, 2015 with family and close friends at Bohlender Funeral Chapel attending. Chaplain Len Schreiner Officiated. Cremation was conducted.
Sidney Klaege was born February 13, 1931 in Chicago to Alfred Klaege, and Eva Smith Klaege. He married Lorraine C. Rosenberg on April 30, 1960 in Chicago. He was a veteran, serving in the US Army, stationed in Austria and Europe following high school. After marriage, he moved to Frankfort, IL where he lived for 30 years to raise a family and was a member of St. Peter's United Church of Christ. He worked for Interlake/Acme Steel in Riverdale, IL and retired after over 41 years of service. He was a Mason, and his hobbies included golfing, coin collecting, cookouts, and keeping up with reading the Chicago Tribune newspaper cover to cover daily.
Following retirement in 1994, he moved to Fort Collins, CO, and was active with driving for SAINT (Senior Assistance IN Transportation) in Fort Collins. He was also active with Adult fitness classes at both CSU (Colorado State University), and the Fort Collins Club. He spent many hours taking care of his home and spending time in his garden and feeding birds and watching birds and squirrels on his patio.
Survivors include his three sons: Bill Klaege of Bloomington, IL, Bob Klaege of Lodi, California, and Mike Klaege of Fort Collins, and five grandchildren; Adam, Justin, and Emily from Bill and Teresa, Drew, and Joel from Bob and Pam.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his one sister, Alyce Burkhart who lived in Michigan.
