Shirley Mildred Temple, 93, of Ft. Collins passed quietly into the arms of God, to be reunited with those loved ones who preceded her on August 16, 2013 at Poudre Valley Hospital. Shirley was born on August 2, 1920 in Corning, New York to Charles Blank and Leona Thompson Blank. She spent the majority of her life in the Finger Lakes area of New York. She had been a resident of Ft. Collins, Colorado since 2005. Besides being a legal and educational secretary, Shirley was a proud homemaker and a beloved "Mom" and "Grandma" to all of her children and grandchildren. She will be remembered for her spirit and feistiness, right up to the end of her life. Survivors include her daughter, Susie Long Mike of Ft. Collins; a stepson, Jerry Temple Elizabeth of Victor, New York; her siblings, Beverly Van Skiver Bernie, Virginia Slater, Paul and Elwyn Blank; her grandchildren, Jeff Eldred Venice, Ryan Long, J.T. Temple, Michelle Austin Joe, Allison Temple, Elizabeth Temple Truax Brent, Marguerite Fenton Timothy, Martin Mosch Rhondee, and Christy Vassar William; and great grandchildren, Tony and Mya Austin, Katherine Truax, Keyanna and Dakota Mosch, Christopher and Tristin Vassar. She is also survived by special friends Dori Vernon, Donna Temple, and Norma McCoy. Preceding Shirley in death were her first husband, William Eldred; second husband, Ellery "Duke" Temple; son, Michael Eldred; stepson, Jack Temple; and grandson, Jeremy Long. As she requested, a private graveside service will be held at Hillside Cemetery, Dundee, New York, at a later date. "You taught us how to live and showed us how to die with dignity and grace. We love you and will miss you."
