Listen to Obituary
Our dear mother, Shirley Ann (Afflerbach) Sinclair passed away in the early morning hours on July 6, 2025 in the city of Fort Collins, CO. She lived to the ripe old age of 96. Mom was born in Burns, WY on December 4, 1928. Mom was the eighth born of seven girls and two boys. They were very close their entire lives.

Shirley was active in the Cheyenne schools growing up. She was a cheerleader in high school and had the honor of being a Homecoming Queen. Her nickname was "Princess Fat". She had many girlfriends, along with many boyfriends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert Carl Afflerbach and Margaret Lorraine (Danforth) Afflerbach. Her siblings who preceded her in death were Flossie Irene Young, baby Audrey, Donna Gail Smith, Wilma Lorraine Connolly, Carl Devere "Bud", Margaret Jane "Marg" Hanson, Eugene Clair "Pene", and Gretchen Lee Lovelett. Her younger sister, Mona Joyce "Jo" Hutchinson survives her. She lives in Nevada with her husband Dick and daughter Peg.

She married the love of her life, Richard "Dick" Eugene Sinclair on September 17, 1948. They were married 74 years. Dad preceded her in death on March 1, 2023. They had four children they raised in Denver, CO.

Mom was a homemaker who loved to help others. Her mother, Lorraine, lived in her home for 10 years. Nephews, uncles, a brother, and children's friends were welcomed and cared for in the home on Tennyson Street and the ranch. As someone recently shared with daughter, Shannon, "there was never a time when I was in Shirley's company that I didn't feel welcome and so happy to be with her." She loved to travel and went around the world with family and friends. They were active members of Ports of Call Travel Club.

They retired to their very favorite "ranch" in Livermore, CO in 1983. A small piece of Heaven that they built themselves with help from family and friends. Mom lived there for 42 years.

Dick and Shirley had a winter home in Bull Head City, AZ where they enjoyed their favorite pastime "across the river" in Laughlin, NV. Mom loved to gamble and won many a Royal Flush. They had 20 winters of fun.

Mom is survived by four children, Susan Jo Keefe, Robert Bruce Sinclair (Marilyn), Joycelynn Gayle Maes (Brian Sharp), and Shannon Kay McGuinness (Mark), 11 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandson due any day.

Later this fall, family and friends will celebrate the life of Mom and Dad at the family ranch. Arrangements pending.
