Listen to Obituary
Shirley Ella Royer-Lavergne, 70, of Wellington Colorado, passed away on October 28th 2023, surrounded by family after a long battle with COPD. Shirley was born in Quincy, Massachusetts to James and Shirley Tangherlini on October 3, 1953.

Shirley was preceded in death by her son, Alan P. Royer Jr., her brother Carleton "Kip" Wilcox, and her parents James and Shirley Tangherlini.

Shirley grew up in Massachusetts with her siblings, Kip, Janice, Jimmy, and Pam. From childhood, Shirley had an innate ability to see into someone's soul and know exactly how they needed to be loved. It did not matter if you were a stranger or someone she knew, she loved you unconditionally. She was literally that person who would give you her last dollar or the shirt off her back for you to feel the love she had for you and to make your life better.

Shirley met and married (1971-1987) Alan Royer in Massachusetts and had two amazing sons, Alan and Sean.

Helping and caring for people and animals was her passion. Shirley was a natural born nurturer. She worked hard to be awarded her LPN and worked as a nurse for many years in both Massachusetts and as a traveling nurse in Colorado.

Shirley met David Lavergne, on August 25, 1989, and they were married on March 11, 1994 in Fort Collins. They have had many joyous adventures over the years and love to enjoy their grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, David Lavergne; her son, Sean Royer (Jessica) along with her grandchildren, Devon (Lilly), Dylan (Kali), D'Artagnan "Tanner" (Karlie), Breanna, Angel Lundeby (Stephen), and Ashley Sanchez (Kennedy). She is survived by her siblings, James "Jimmy "Tangherlini (Marti), Janice Tyler (Ronnie), and Pamela Petch (Roger) and their extended families. She leaves behind 13 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren, who meant the world to her, as well as a host of many friends and relatives.

Shirley had an infectious smile and laughter that could turn ordinary moments into extraordinary times. She loved unapologetically, with every ounce of her being. Time nor distance would not make her love falter. She was strong-willed, spontaneous, and selfless in her profound love, kindness, and affection she shared for her family and for our Lord and Savior. She had a special place in her heart for everyone she has ever known and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Public viewing will be held from 12-2 pm with the funeral service to begin at 2pm on Saturday, November 4, 2023 at Bohlender Funeral Chapel. The service will be live-steamed beginning at 1:45pm MST for those not able to attend in person and a recording will be available.
Shirley's Celebration of Life will occur on November 12, 2023 with details to be determined.

Graveside services will be conducted at Knollwood Memorial Park in Canton, Massachusetts to be reunited with her son, Alan, details to be determined.

Shirley was a long-time supporter of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and donations in her honor would be greatly appreciated.
