Shirley Sarah Irene Wass Taladay

Shirley, age 87, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on October 11, 2022, in Fort Collins, CO. She was born and raised in Newmarket, Ontario, Canada in 1935. She earned a nursing degree in 1960 from Soldiers' Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in Orillia, Ontario. After nursing school, Shirley worked as an OR nurse before deciding to explore the world as a traveling nurse. Her adventures took her to Bermuda, where she met Floyd, the love of her life. They were married in Bermuda in 1969. Floyd and Shirley spent time in San Diego, CA, before moving to Fort Collins in 1977.

Shirley was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She loved living in Fort Collins and was an active part of the community. Shirley loved the Lord and was a proud member of the American Baptist Church for over 40 years. She truly believed in giving back to the church and her community and was passionate about charity work. She cherished her years volunteering for the Scouts and was one of the founders of Elderhouse. Shirley and Floyd enjoyed traveling and went on many cruises during their retirement. Shirley was a proud supporter of the Disabled Veterans of America and traveled the country with Floyd attending DVA conferences. She loved her daily walks through her neighborhood and watching the Rams and Avalanche play.

Shirley was proceded in death by her husband, Floyd, parents, Charles and Eva, brother, Lorne and sister, Lorraine. She is survived by son, Brian (Nadia) Taladay of Sacramento, CA, daughter, Diane (Mel) Moreland of Fort Collins, CO, and son, David (Kristyn) Taladay of Dillon, CO. She is also survived by her six grandchildren, sisters Marny and Carol, and many nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

A celebration of life will be held at 10:00 a.m on October 27th, 2022 at the American Baptist Church in Fort Collins. All are welcome. The service will also be live-streamed via zoom on the https://us02web.zoom.us/j/9921724773?pwd=Q2tqcGxFTTZreUNhdSs2Z3NZbURrZz09
