Listen to Obituary
Shirley Diane Dyekman passed away in the early morning hours on November 28th, 2012. Shirley was born on November 2, 1929 in Fort Collins, the daughter of Mildred and Harold Owens, and lived here her entire life. She married Robert E. Dyekman. They were married on December 19, 1948, and they spent 64 wonderful years together. Shirley was a graduate of Fort Collins High School and enjoyed a successful career at Mountain Bell working her way up in the company from being an operator to a marketing/communications consultant. She retired in 1982. Shirley was an avid golfer; she enjoyed playing with the ladies groups at City Park Nine and Collindale, and also with her family. She and Bob had many adventures in their motor home over the years, and were able to visit 49 states. Fishing, camping, quilting, sewing, and playing the piano were other activities of great enjoyment for her. She was proud of many accomplishments over the years through her work and golf, but she was most proud of her family that she loved and supported every step of the way. She is survived by her husband, Robert; her three children, Jim Linda, Gary, and Sally William Wright; her grandchildren Christopher Wright, and Danielle Adam Schwinn; her sister, Janet Hanna; her brother; Robert Owens; and numerous family members and friends, who have always been like family. We treasure our dear wife, mom, grandma, sister, aunt, and friend and will hold her close in our hearts. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 4th, at Bohlender Funeral Chapel.
