Shirley V. Becker, 76, passed away at her home in Fort Collins on February 15, 2013. Shirley is survived by her husband, Robert Becker; daughters, Debra Waters Dennis and Pamela Brown Mark; son, Robert Becker Vickie; grandchildren, Leslie and Jennifer Becker, Joshua and Nicholas Brown, Lisa, Rebecca, and Erin Waters; brother, William Wah Yick, Jr. Leah; and sister, Clara Wright. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Dorothy Chang, and granddaughter, Brooke Becker. Shirley was born April 11, 1936 in Hilo, Hawaii to Clara and William Chang Wah Yick. At 17, she joined the Women's Army Corps where she met her lifetime love, Robert. They married December 7, 1956, in Clay Center, Kansas. After spending a year in Hawaii, the newlyweds settled in Fort Collins to raise dairy cattle and farm. Shirley later became employed outside of the home, taking great pride in her work. Her first employer was Southwestern Supply Co. She began working for CSU in 1981. Over the years she worked in many different departments and retired from CSU ROTC in March, 2008. Shirley loved social activities and was active in the Timnath PTO when her children were young. She played women's softball for over 20 years. For many years, she also bowled mixed doubles with her husband. Shirley was a big sports fan, relishing football, softball and hockey. She enjoyed playing cards and loved to "shoot the moon" with her husband and friends. Shirley will be remembered by her family and friends as a dynamic woman who gave her all to everything she did. Visitation is on Wednesday, February 20th from 4:00 – 7:00 pm at Bohlender Funeral Chapel. A memorial service celebrating Shirley's life will be held on Saturday, February 23rd, at 11:00 a.m. at Plymouth Congregational Church, 916 West Prospect Road.
