Sheryl Dawn House, 66, beloved Wife, Mother, Grandmother, and Sister, passed away at home on July 7, 2024. She entered this world on October 18, 1957 in Riverside California, born to W. Lavar and Anita Clawson. She is survived by her husband Lamar House; daughter Deanna Ortiz and her husband Jason of Fort Collins; son Brandon House and his wife Kelly of Windsor; and son Kyle House of Lehi, Utah; siblings Coleen Greer, Kevin Clawson, and Michele Uhi; and 8 grandchildren: Braxton House, Connor Ortiz, Brock House, Jacob Ortiz, Emery House, Logan Ortiz, Elsie House, and Emmett House. She is preceded in death by her parents and brother Gary Clawson.
Only months after her birth, the family moved back from Riverside to her parents' home state of New Mexico. Most of Sheryl's childhood was lived in Ramah, New Mexico. She attended elementary school in Ramah, junior and senior high school in Zuni, New Mexico. Sheryl was a regular cowgirl and presented her horse in competitions, which was natural for a daughter of a quarter-horse breeder. She was a member and participated in Future Farmers of America where she served as the Reporter of the Zuni Chapter. Sheryl was a model student, recognized with a number of honors and graduated Valedictorian, top of her class of 1975. She attended New Mexico State University on a full scholarship.
Sheryl met her husband Lamar in the eighth grade and they married a year after high school graduation while he was serving in the United States Air Force. Their first child Deanna was born at Moody Air Force Base outside Valdosta, Georgia. They moved to Provo, Utah to attend Brigham Young University where their second child, Brandon was born. After graduation, they moved to San Jose, California where they lived for eighteen years. Their third child Kyle was born in Palo Alto during this time.
Sheryl loved her children and grandchildren and they were a major focus of her life. She was an expert listener and trusted confidant. She was the first person that her children approached in times of need or distress. Unconditional love was a natural and innate quality of Sheryl. She was a friend to all.
Sheryl was a life-long member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she served in a number of leadership and teacher callings. Her love for the Savior was evident in every aspect of her public and private life.
There will be a Funeral Service in her honor at 10:00am on Friday morning, July 19, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints chapel, 600 E. Swallow, Fort Collins, CO. Visitation at 9:00, Funeral Service at 10:00. Burial at Grandview Cemetery will follow at 12:00pm.
