Sharon Ann Serbousek-Nelson passed away peacefully June 19, 2012, in her home in Fort Collins after a long and courageous battle with cancer. The last weeks of her life were spent surrounded by family. Sharon is survived by her husband of 31 years, Carl Nelson, and her five children and their families: Tami Serbousek of Fort Collins; Tara Smith of Spokane, WA and her husband, John; Robyn Young of Loveland and her husband, Ed; Linden Serbousek of Windsor and his wife, Vivianne; and Chris Serbousek of Windsor and his wife, Kristen. Sharon is also survived by ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Dorothy Richardsonp; brother, Roger Richardson; and her first husband, and father of her five children, Robert Serbousek. Sharon was born in Minatare, Nebraska on September 25, 1935. Sharon and her family subsequently moved to Hay Springs, Nebraska where she attended high school and met her first husband Robert Serbousek. Upon graduation from high school, Sharon moved to Fort Collins to attend Colorado State University before returning to Hay Springs to marry Robert in June 1955. Robert passed away in 1972. In 1977, Sharon moved her family to Fort Collins, where in 1981 she met and married Carl Nelson. Sharon was an accomplished musician, artist, and cook; and a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother. One of Sharon's greatest passions and favorite pastimes was working alongside Carl in one of their many incredible flower gardens. Sharon's wish was to stay at home until the end of her life. Her family was able to grant her wish with the loving and caring help of her wonderful nurses from Pathways Hospice and the amazing caregivers from Right at Home who helped make Sharon's life as comfortable as possible during her illness.
